Hey lovelies, I hope you had a lovely weekend.
I attended quite a number of weddings in October and it seemed most of them took place on unusual days. One of these weddings was on a Tuesday and another was on a Sunday. Apart from the fact that these weddings were on odd days, they seemed to have a particular color in common which is Teal.
Teal is a low-saturated bluish-green color, similar to medium blue-green and dark cyan. It can be created by mixing green and blue into a white base, or deepened as needed with a little bit of black or gray. This is one color I LOVE and always will. I love it so much I chose it as the color for my fashion label.
One of the variations of teal is 'Teal Blue', which is a medium tone of teal with more blue. Two years ago, I made this teal blue dress; a mixture of a damask-like print and raw silk, with an embellished neck line of metallic iron-on stones. The raw silk is pleated across the neck of the front bodice with an uneven hem. I wore it to a client's wedding.
The wedding colors were teal and pink so instead of making a new outfit I made a few fitting adjustments to the outfit and rocked it.
While planning what to make, I figured most people would make skirts and blouses and it turned out I was right. I am not big on skirts and blouses as I wouldn't be excited about wearing it a second time, so I opted for a dress. I thought I would make a long dress but on the day I was to sew it I had a number of client outfits that needed to be sewn and I knew what I had pictured would take more time than I could afford so I settled for a quick sew; a knee length dress.
The one challenge I always encounter with this quality of velvet is lining so I made this dress without any. Thankfully, the design didn't need one anyway. The slit was intended for the back of the dress but because both the back and the front bodice are similar, I mistakenly cut the front bodice thinking it was the back so please forgive the thigh exposure :">.
I also made the outfit for a friend who was attending same wedding. Same drape concept but she wanted a skirt and blouse.
By the way, this 'gele' tying is torture for me, I ended up with a headache before the party was over! :(
...Be fashion wise!
