From Sketch to Life

Hey lovelies, hope you all had a great weekend. Today's dress was designed for Funlola Aofiyebi-Raimi, she wore it to a traditional wedding a few months ago. The sketch below was sent to her for approval after which the dress was made. It is a floor length, sleeveless gown made from raw silk and lace. The details on the neck, lower bodice and back were achieved through the patterns on the edges of the lace. The silk and lace are gold in colour because that was one of the wedding colours.

Funlola wore the dress as a traditional outfit, paired with a fuchsia 'gele' and gold accessories. It could also be worn as a formal dress to either a white wedding or some other formal event like I did when I made a replica for myself.

My Sunday look - The Bodycon

Hello dearies, today's post is following in theme of days of the week; here's my Sunday look. It's a midi textured jersey bodycon dress in nude. It's got a draped back that turns this simple dress into a glamorous one.

A bodycon dress fits like a second skin; it's meant to hold the body together avoiding jiggly bits. In order to achieve this completely you need the right kind of underwear; Spanx® are a good way to go.  Be cautious when buying these underwear as they are not meant to be tight to the point of being uncomfortable. Bodycon dresses are usually mini, knee length or midi lengths although a few flow all the way to the floor. Whatever you wear with the bodycon, make sure it doesn't overshadow the dress and draw attention away from your curves. Bodycon dresses are suitable for anytime of the day, just ensure you match with appropriate accessories for that time of the day and the event. They can be paired with stilettos, ballet flats and even boots.

P.S: Show off your curves but keep it classy!

My dress has been accesorised with a neon pink hatinator, black shoes and a black clutch with multicolored gem stone. A pop of colour always brings a glam factor to neutral hues and that's what the hatinator achieves in this outfit.

I made this same dress for a client which she wore for her marriage at the registry. This version is red and made from a lace fabric. Like I mentioned earlier the right accessories make a bodycon dress fit for any occasion.
