Orange Crush

Hello dearies

My apologies for the long hiatus but I'm back and ready with new content that is guaranteed to inspire you.

Today's outfit is a mixture of textures and colours that I wouldn't have thought to combine ordinarily. I made this oufit from peach guipure lace and orange tribal print ankara. The skirt is a combination of two styles in vogue; the dip hem and the full flares. It also has a tie-bow behind. Full, voluminous skirts are flattering to most silhouettes and can be dressed up or down.

The top has been tucked in to show off the details of the skirt. It balances out the volume of the skirt and adds a touch of feminism. The v-neck on the top allows for accessorizing with chunky neck pieces. In this case, I have gone for a red beaded necklace which balances the entire look, but provides a bit of contrast when combined with the royal blue shoes.

This looks works for a number of occasions and each piece can be mixed with other pieces to suit whatever occasion.

Thursday

Hey dearies, hope the week is going well. Today's post is a valentine day inspiration; something red to celebrate the day. I have paired a red pussy bow, three-quarter sleeved blouse with a leopard print midi skirt. The skirt is high waist and sequined.

The outfit combines two very feminine pieces; the pussy bow and the sequined leopard print. This is one of the best ways to wear animal prints; pairing with a bright non-animal print piece. The bright colour helps to take attention from the print and tone it down. Other colours that would work well with animal print are emerald green, pink, yellow, orange and pastels. The look is completed with nude shoes, a black bag and an animal print thin belt.

Hope this inspires your valentine day dress up!!! :)

Monday

Hello dolls, I bet you all have been doing great. It's been a minute, I know, but you'll understand why in a bit. I'm particularly excited about the series of posts that will be featured daily on this blog for the next week. I have tagged it "Monday to Sunday"; a style inspiration series best suited for the working-class woman of style. Although not every outfit or styling is universally suitable for every work environments, you can incorporate some of the pieces in the dress code permitted by your particular work environment.

So for the first post; "Monday", we paired a polka dot buttoned-down shirt with puffy sleeves and a monochrome stripped midi skirt. This is a print on print combination that works for a number of reasons. Firstly, while the top has white dots on a black background, the colours are reversed on the skirt (black stripes on a white background). Secondly, the polka dots are small while the stripes are bolder giving the whole outfit a visual balance. Finally, black and white are such classic colours that they hardly go wrong combined.

The black shoes are an ideal complement to the outfit as the cuffs are perfectly positioned to show off the legs under the midi skirt while the red bag adds a pop of colour that ties the whole outfit together.

There will definitely be no Monday blues with this outfit.
